Liverpool midfielder Elijah Dixon-Bonner is set for a spell on the sidelines, having sustained a knee ligament injury.
The youngster picked up the issue in the Under-23s’ Premier League Cup win over Huddersfield Town last Friday, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Neil Critchley is thought to be hopeful that Dixon-Bonner will play again this season, although there is no guarantee of that happening.
The 19-year-old made his first-team debut earlier this month, coming on as a late substitute in the FA Cup fourth-round replay against Shrewsbury Town.

This is an undoubted blow for Dixon-Bonner, who has been a regular in Liverpool’s academy since joining from Arsenal back in 2015.
Having won the FA Youth Cup with the Under-18s last season, he has since made the jump up to the U23s.
I think it is going to be tough for Dixon-Bonner to make it at Liverpool in the long-term, however, considering the number of midfielders ahead of him in the pecking order.
Jurgen Klopp has an array of stars to call upon, and with the Reds widely viewed as the best club side on the planet currently, only an exceptional youngster such as Curtis Jones has a chance of making the grade, in my opinion.
It may be that a loan move makes sense for Dixon-Bonner next season, instead of potentially outgrowing the U23s.
