Milner ruled out of Watford clash

Liverpool midfielder James Milner has been ruled out of the team’s clash against Watford this weekend.

Milner is recovering well and is back running, but manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed in his pre-match press conference that the Englishman is still not ready to play any part in the league clash.

He said:

Millie is running even more.

Not enough for this game, but we will see especially Millie what we can do for Tuesday.

Fellow midfielder Jordan Henderson and Xherdan Shaqiri have also been ruled out of the clash.

Milner suffered a muscle injury in the FA Cup clash against Everton in January and has still not fully recovered, meaning he has missed some important matches like the UEFA Champions League last 16 first leg against Atletico Madrid.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita have filled in well for Milner in midfield, with ex-Arsenal man Chamberlain netting twice since the 34-year-old’s injury.

The former, who is among Liverpool’s top earners, has made just 11 Premier League starts this season, but could now get a run in the side with Klopp short of options in midfield.

Klopp revealed that Milner might be back for the second leg against Atletico, which we feel could be a massive boost because of his experience and expertise from the penalty spot.
