Liverpool supporters have been debating the possible signing of Mario Gotze this summer.
Jurgen Klopp enjoyed great success at Borussia Dortmund, winning back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012. He also reached the Champions League final in 2013, further highlighting the superb job he did in his homeland.
One of the key members of that Dortmund side was Gotze, who famously scored the winning goal in the 2014 World Cup final.
The attacking midfielder was a favourite of Klopp’s and the two had a special relationship during their time together at Dortmund.
While Klopp has gone on to even better things as Liverpool manager, Gotze’s promising career has seemingly gone backwards, with health and fitness issues a key reason behind that.
Still only 27, however, the German will be a free agent at the end of the season.
Although Liverpool haven’t been linked with a move for Gotze, these Reds supporters have been discussing the idea of a potential free transfer on Twitter after quotes from an interview back in 2018 resurfaced on social media.
It’s fair to say opinion is split on the matter, with some keen on a deal happening and others claiming Gotze’s best days are behind him.

Rather give more opportunity to Minamino.

Don’t think it’d be a bad singing as a backup. Could provide a good bit of quality coming off the bench.
