Neil Critchley has left Liverpool to take charge of Blackpool, the club confirmed on Monday.
The Under-23s boss has moved on after an impressive stint in the role, which included taking charge of a young first-team against Shrewsbury Town last month.
Critchley also managed Liverpool against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup back in December, due to Jurgen Klopp and his senior players being on Club World Cup duty in Qatar.
While the 5-0 defeat was ultimately disappointing, the youngsters still did themselves proud on the night, with Critchley also impressing.
He has spent six-and-a-half years at Liverpool’s academy, progressing from being manager of the U18s to leading the U23s.
It is unknown who the 41-year-old’s replacement will be in the role, as he moves to League One outfit Blackpool looking to make an impression in senior management.
These Liverpool supporters have been sending their best wishes to Critchley on Twitter, following years of excellent service at Anfield.
Sad.
Just read the article about Blackpool sniffing around Critch.
I wish him luck – he has done a wonderful job and earned his move.#YNWA
