Liverpool fans react as Van Dijk posts bullish social media message

Liverpool fans have been urging Virgil van Dijk to silence the critics and help the Reds beat Bournemouth this weekend.

Jurgen Klopp’s side host the Cherries on Saturday lunchtime, aiming to get back to winning ways.

Liverpool have suffered something of a mini blip in their season, falling to back-to-back defeats away to Watford and Chelsea, in the Premier League and FA Cup respectively.

By his incredibly high standards, Van Dijk arguably hasn’t been at his all-conquering best of late, and he will be hoping to return to top form against Bournemouth.

Victory for the Reds will mean they need just nine more points to secure Premier League glory, assuming Manchester City keep winning.

Van Dijk took to Twitter on Friday to speak of his excitement ahead of the game, admitting it is nice to be back at Anfield after nearly two weeks away:

Big one tomorrow! Looking forward to being back at Anfield!! 🔥🔥 #YNWA pic.twitter.com/2cQAQDQvCs
