Liverpool fans mock Sterling as he flirts with potential Anfield return
Some Liverpool supporters have mocked the idea of Raheem Sterling returning to Liverpool one day.
The 25-year-old left the Reds back in the summer of 2015, joining Manchester City in a big-money move.
Sterling’s behaviour in the lead-up to his exit didn’t go down well with some, including Steven Gerrard, and it has lost him popularity in the years since.
Liverpool’s rivalry with City has only intensified that issue, with the forward receiving plenty of boos whenever he has returned to Anfield.
Although Sterling has even made the odd sly dig at the Reds, he has shown a different side to his character this week.
Speaking during a social media takeover on Colossal Sports Management‘s Instagram account, with quotes provided by the Mirror, the England international admitted he wouldn’t rule out the possibility of playing for Liverpool again:
Would I ever go back to Liverpool? To be honest with you I love Liverpool.
Don’t get it twisted, they are always in my heart. It’s a team that done a lot for me growing up.
These Reds fans still seemingly haven’t forgiven Sterling, however, taking to Twitter to say they don’t want him to return, or that he wouldn’t get in the team now.
Chin up Raheem. You'd make a decent sub.
