Liverpool fans can’t wait to watch repeat of legendary Reds victory
Some Liverpool and neutral fans are excited at the prospect of re-watching the Reds’ unforgettable 4-3 win over Newcastle United.
Still considered arguably the greatest game in Premier League history, the two sides met back on April 3rd 1996 – 24 years ago today.
A key match in the title race, particularly for the Magpies, what unfolded at Anfield is now the stuff of legend.
Robbie Fowler opened the scoring early on, only for Les Ferdinand and David Ginola to turn the game on its head.
Fowler equalised in the second half, but Faustino Asprilla put Newcastle back in front.
It was left to Stan Collymore to be the hero, finishing from close-range to make it 3-3, before firing home the winner in front of the Kop in stoppage time.
Sky Sports have confirmed that they will be showing the game in full on Friday night, giving supporters an opportunity to relive an incredible night:
⚽️ A very special Friday Night Football
We travel back 24 years to the day to arguably the greatest ever Premier League game.
