Troy Deeney believes Adam Lallana ‘walks into 90 per cent of teams’ in the Premier League.

Lallana is expected to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, with his contract expiring at Anfield.

Playing time has been hard to come by for the 31-year-old this season, with just three league starts to his name.

Despite this, Deeney rates Lallana highly, telling The United Stand that top clubs would love him in their midfield:

I was just chatting about this with my mates in our group chat – Lallana walks into 90 per cent of teams.

He could play for Man City but I think they’re overpopulated… you would take him at United.

He’d be in the squad and 100 per cent he improves the squad. Lallana can play anywhere across the front line. Tottenham would take him, Everton…Chelsea, yeah.

Despite the praise coming his way, I think it makes complete sense for Liverpool to sell Lallana. Granted, they won’t receive a fee for him, but he has become less effective over time and is arguably the seventh-choice midfielder at the club.

He has been praised a good leader off the pitch, in fairness, but as he approaches 32, a fresh challenge is required.

I also think Lallana moving on could hand Curtis Jones more of a squad role, with the academy star representing the future. The 19-year-old has scored more goals (two) than his teammate (one) this season, despite making just eight appearances to Lallana’s 22.
