Manchester City are closing in on the signing of Liverpool-linked Ferran Torres from Valencia, according to a report from Paul Hirst of The Times.
Torres was named as a target for the Reds earlier this year but it looks like he will now be joining Pep Guardiola’s squad as City look to recapture the Premier League title from Liverpool.
According to the report, Torres has a verbal agreement in place to sign for City, and now the club are in the final stages of negotiations about a fee with Valencia, with City expected to pay around £30m for the forward.

With the global pandemic looking like it will have an impact on Liverpool’s transfer spending, it’s difficult to know just how much money, if any, the Reds have to spend this summer.
If there is cash available then spending £30m for someone of Torres’ ability could have been a very wise move for Liverpool, who could still do with another natural wide player in their squad.
However, it looks like that ship has now sailed and the player will be going to City, meaning he instantly becomes a foe, rather than an ally, in the race for the league title next year.
