Liverpool are close to agreeing a deal to sign Real Betis defender Aissa Mandi, according to reports.
Betis are apparently reluctant to let the Algerian defender leave the club as they would like him to stay for a bit longer, but the player has decided not to extend his contract, which expires at the end of June 2021.
As such, Betis have decided to cash in on him now rather than lose him on a free transfer in under a year’s time.

Liverpool allowed Dejan Lovren to leave to join Zenit last month so they do have a place in their squad for a new centre-back.
Mandi, much like Ragnar Klavan did a few years ago, could come in as a back-up option, one who will likely understand that game time will be limited.
The fact he can also cover at left-back if needed could be another positive for Jurgen Klopp as the German looks to get his squad ready to defend their Premier League title next season.
