Liverpool have been linked with a move for Greek international left-back Kostas Tsimikas by Greek outlet FOS.

The 24-year-old who has been capped on three occasions by the Greek national side has become an integral player for Olympiakos in the last two seasons, following a successful loan spell in the Dutch Eredivisie with Willem II.

Much of the youngster’s best work is as an attacking option down the left-wing, much like the Reds’ current occupant of his position Andy Robertson, making Tsimikas a viable option as an understudy.

Recently touted by Gianluca di Marzio as a possible target for French club Nice, his price-tag was a reported £7 million however, the Ligue 1 club’s interest has since cooled on the Greek left-back.

Having been valued at around £22 million previously, the financial climate post-pandemic has seen the Greek starlet’s price plummet, meaning should the Premier League champions make their move, it could yet prove to be another shrewd piece of business in the left-back department.

Tsimikas played 27 games in Olympiakos’ Superleague title success in 2019/20 and his side coincidentally won the title by the same 18 point margin as his potential new employers.

Jurgen Klopp, it seems, is certainly in the market for cover in numerous positions, including left-back and at around £7 million, Tsimikas could be the perfect choice to give Robertson a much-needed rest in certain games.
