Austrian outlet Kronen Zeitung are reporting that a member of the Liverpool party at the club’s Saalfelden training camp has tested positive for COVID-19.
The reports do not indicate if it is a player or a member of the club’s staff who have tested positive at this time, whilst Liverpool, at the time of writing, have made no comment about the reports either.
Almost every member of The Reds’ first-team squad are in Austria for pre-season training ahead of the upcoming campaign, which gets underway on August 29th with the Community Shield clash against Arsenal at Wembley Stadium.
The club, like all top-flight sides, have protocols in place to deal with any positive tests so the person who tested positive will be isolated from the group and training will continue as normal.
The Reds will go into the new campaign as the reigning Premier League champions and will be keen to retain their title whilst they’ll also be hoping to reclaim the Champions League too after they exited the competition at the Round of 16 last year as they lost a two-legged tie to Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.
