The Daily Star have claimed that Scottish champions Celtic are keeping an eye on Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi.
It is believed, however, that Celtic boss Neil Lennon will only follow up his interest should he lose his own star striker Odsonne Edouard.
Awoniyi has been with the Reds since 2015 after arriving from the Nigerian Imperial Soccer Academy, however, the striker is yet to play a competitive match for the club due to work-permit complications.
Instead, the 23-year-old has been loaned out six times in total, most recently to German Bundesliga side Mainz 05, where he scored once in 12 appearances.
Whilst Awoniyi has never seen any first-team action with the Premier League champions, he is still held in high regard by the Anfield staff, thus the club would demand a fee in the region of £9 million for his transfer.

It is likely Jurgen Klopp would welcome the departure of Awoniyi as he looks to build his squad for the 2020/21 title defence. A windfall of anything around the £9million mark would provide a welcome boost to the transfer funs.
The Nigerian is a very hard-working forward with an eye for goal but despite his obvious abilities, it seems unlikely that his time will ever come in a Red shirt so perhaps the time is right to cash in.
