Liverpool set to win the race for Patson Daka

According to South African outlet The Far Post, Liverpool are set to beat rivals Manchester United and Arsenal to the signing of Red Bull Salzburg forward Patson Daka.

The report claims the Premier League champions are ‘prime favourites’ to sign the 21-year-old, who recently scored twice against the Reds in a pre-season friendly.

Zambia international Daka has lit up Austrian football since his arrival at Salzburg in 2017, his 34 goals in 83 matches in all competitions helped fire his side to domestic glory in 2019/20.

With Champions League goals to his name as well as a goal every two games in league competition, Daka is proving his goalscoring abilities across the board.

Despite only being 21, Daka made his international debut in 2015, going on to score three times in 10 appearances for his nation Zambia.

Although these links are very much in their infancy, should Daka make the switch from Salzburg to Liverpool, he would be following in some very successful footsteps of players who have represented both sides.

Sadio Mane and Naby Keita have represented both clubs, whilst Takumi Minamino only left arrived art Anfield from the Austrian champions in January too.

A powerful forward who can operate on the right of a three, Daka is certainly a player to keep an eye on but we’d be surprised if the Reds decided to make a move for him this summer.
