Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas has tested positive for COVID-19 whilst on international duty with Greece.
The left-back felt unwell and had a fever and as such, he was kept isolated from the rest of his squad and was tested, and that test has come back positive.
Given that Liverpool play against Leeds United on September 12th, Tsimikas will almost certainly be unavailable for selection as he will need to isolate for a week, so he might not even be back in the country by the time that game takes place at Anfield.
Liverpool’s newest player was brought in to provide back-up and competition for Andrew Robertson and barring injury, he would have been unlikely to start against Leeds but he would likely have been on the bench, but that almost certainly won’t be the case now.
Liverpool will keep in contact with the Greek FA to monitor Tsimikas‘ condition for the next few days.
