Yerry Mina could miss Everton’s Merseyside derby clash with Liverpool this weekend, according to the Times‘ Paul Joyce on Twitter.

The Colombian is suffering with a thigh injury that needs to be assessed in the coming days, with his involvement in the game in the balance.

Joyce does confirm that Allan, Seamus Coleman and Andre Gomes will all be fit, however.

Liverpool are looking for their first win, and goal, at Goodison Park since December 2016 on Saturday, with their rivals currently top of the Premier League.

A win for the Reds would see them draw level on points with Carlo Ancelotti’s side, though.

I think Mina’s potential absence could be a major blow for Everton, judging by his performances so far this season.

The 26-year-old has played every minute in the league for the Blues, shining alongside Lucas Digne, Michael Keane and Coleman.

Mina’s physicality and height would make him a tough opponent for Roberto Firmino on Saturday, and Everton’s defence would suddenly look less assured without him involved.

No Blues player has averaged more interceptions (2.5) and clearances (4.5) per game this season, highlighting his influence.

While Mina may not be close to someone like Virgil van Dijk’s level, he is proving to be a key man in his own right at Goodison.
