The Reds find themselves in a defensive crisis, with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez both potentially missing the rest of the season with serious injuries. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Fabinho are also out injured currently, while Joel Matip’s inability to stay fit for long periods has been proven in the past.
It could be that Jurgen Klopp delves into the transfer market in January, with a host of a names already linked with moves to Anfield, including Ozan Kabak and Dayot Upamecano.
Now, it is claimed that Liverpool want Semedo, who has a chequered past, having been charged with attempted murder, kidnapping and robbery back in 2018.
Now plying his trade at Olympiakos, the Portugal international has been trying to rebuild his career, starting all three of his side’s Champions League games this season.

It could be argued that Semedo has overcome his previous troubles, but it would still be a surprise to see Liverpool make a move for him. Klopp is a keen advocate of not only signing good footballers, but also good people, which it could be argued Semedo isn’t.
The Liverpool manager wouldn’t want a disruptive influence coming in and affecting the fantastic team spirit which currently exists in his squad. There are plenty of other centre-back alternatives out there rather than taking a risk with Semedo.
