A number of Liverpool fans have hailed Neco Williams’ performance for Wales over the weekend, tipping him to be a strong replacement for the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Williams started his country’s 1-0 win over the Republic of Ireland on Sunday, will David Brooks scoring the only goal of the game.
It was the Liverpool youngster’s sixth appearance for Wales and he passed with flying colours.
The right-back impressed in all facets of his game, producing a mature showing that again suggests he can be a good squad player for the Reds over many years.
It could be that Williams is set for an extended spell in the team, however, with Alexander-Arnold expected to be out of action for the next three weeks or so.
The 22-year-old suffered a calf injury in the 1-1 draw at Manchester City and could miss the upcoming matches against Leicester City, Atalanta, Brighton and Ajax, for starters.
Assuming Jurgen Klopp opts to bring in Williams at right-back – James Milner is a solid option there, too – this could be a great chance for him to prove himself.
These Liverpool supporters took to Twitter to praise the 19-year-old performance, tipping him to excel in the absence of Alexander-Arnold.
Neco Williams has been outstanding, best player on that pitch once again. Going to be some player him 🏴

Good that Neco Williams is starting at right back for Wales vs Ireland. Needs that game time in that position as he'll likely play a few games (not sure which ones) with Trent injured. Has been used as a winger in some of Wales' other games.
