Diogo Jota is the best Premier League signing of the season, according to former Liverpool striker Michael Owen.
The Portuguese made the move from Wolves to Anfield in the summer, seemingly coming in as a strong backup to Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
Instead, Jota has been sensational for Liverpool, scoring nine goals in his first 15 appearances.
Such has been the impact the 23-year-old has made, he has been one of the star men of 2020/21 to date.
Speaking on BT Sport [via Metro], Owen claimed that no new signing during the summer has been better than Jota:
No one could’ve predicted that he would hit the ground running like he has. You’d have to say he’s the best signing of the season so far in the Premier League.
He’s surprised me with his pace, I must admit. I think he’s far quicker than I gave him credit for.
Against Atalanta he was electric. ‘He just shows composure, a lot of people panic, they just get a shot off as soon as they get any form of space.
I just think he’s scored headers, right foot, left foot, he’s scored everything so far and he’s looked the real deal in terms of linking play. Nobody could have envisaged the quality that he’s shown so far.

Jota has exceeded all expectations, without question, already becoming an undisputed key man for Liverpool.
His speed, directness, and end product have all been vital to the Reds’ success, especially with Salah, Mane and Firmino not necessarily consistently firing on all cylinders.
Jota has to start against former club Wolves on Sunday, such is the level of form he is in – Nuno Espirito Santo will surely be fearful of him.
Jurgen Klopp has the option of starting all four attacking superstars, or possibly leave out Firmino again, so it will be interesting to see what he goes with.
