Sadio Mane has revealed a lovely tribute to the late Papa Bouba Diop, following Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Ajax on Tuesday evening.
The Reds qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League, thanks to Curtis Jones’ solitary goal in the second half.
Mane started in his normal left-sided role, but never quite going going by his usual high standards.
When the final whistle blew, however, the 28-year-old revealed a shirt simply saying Bouba Diop’s name, following his death over the weekend, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

Bouba Diop is a Senegalese legend, having famously scored the opening goal at the 2002 World Cup, in a shock 1-0 win over France.
At that point, Mane was a 10-year-old hoping to one day be a professional footballer, idolising the midfielder.
Bouba Diop clearly meant a lot to Mane, who has gone on to become a superstar of African football in his own right.
The Liverpool forward is a wonderful character, with this gesture summing him up, not to mention to fantastic recent video that saw him surprise a volunteer in the city.
During these tough times, Sadio surprised Lee – an incredible volunteer at @theflorrie and a massive red – with a day he’ll never forget ❤️
