Some Liverpool fans have been lauding Jordan Henderson for his lovely gesture after the 4-0 win over Wolves, with the 30-year-old even being called a better captain than Steven Gerrard.
Henderson endured a tough start to life at Anfield in 2011, struggling to adapt as a young player.
The midfielder has grown into a club legend, however, taking over the captaincy from Gerrard and excelling in the role, lifting both the Champions League and Premier League trophies as skipper.
Henderson was again at his brilliant best on Sunday night, as Liverpool cruised to victory at home to Wolves. Not only did he do so much unnoticed work in superb fashion, but he also registered an assist on the night.
After the game, the captain’s mind wasn’t only on the win, however, as his thoughtful side took over.
Henderson replied to a message from a Liverpool fan who came out at the age of 17, offering his support and telling him everyone is welcome at the club.
You’ll never walk alone Keith. If wearing the #RainbowLaces armband helps even just one person then it’s progress. Everyone is welcome at Liverpool Football Club. Hope you enjoyed the game tonight. #YNWA https://t.co/TfIhASribZ

These Reds supporters reacted to the message on Twitter, hailing their skipper for his selflessness and class.
Honestly, I think he's an even better captain than Gerrard was. Not a better player, obviously, but there's something about his captaincy that has a laser-guided focus, measure, discipline and selflessness that I think makes him a better captain. Meaningless chat, but whatever.🤷♂️ https://t.co/nsacfrBDuD

The captain of this club is a great human-being first and foremost. What a man. #lfc
