Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has paid tribute to former Reds manager Gerard Houllier, following his death at the age of 73.
The Frenchman passed away on Sunday evening, having suffered health issues throughout his life.
It is a hugely sad moment for anyone of a Liverpool persuasion, with Houllier taking charge of the Reds between 1998 and 2004.
Someone who made his name under him was Carragher, who was a key man during the treble-winning 2000/01 season.
Taking to Twitter to reveal his thoughts on Houllier, the 42-year-old posted a heartfelt message to his former boss:
Absolutely devastated by the news about Gerard Houllier, I was in touch with him only last month to arrange him coming to Liverpool. Loved that man to bits, he changed me as a person & as a player & got @LFC back winning trophies. RIP Boss. 💔

It is a sad day in the history of Liverpool Football Club, with Houllier such a top manager, and also a warm person.
He is arguably one of the most underrated managers in Reds history, considering he won three cups in that memorable 2000/01 season, also guiding his team into the Champions League for the first time.
After a hugely disappointing spell in the wilderness in the 1990s, Liverpool were resurrected under Houllier, who made them steely and capable of winning trophies.
He played a huge role in Carragher’s career taking off and he will be much missed.
