Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Atletico Madrid star Marcos Llorente, but there may be more to the story than meets the eye.
According to Cadena Ser [via Sport Witness], Julio Llorente, the player’s agent and cousin, he has “received many calls” from the Reds, with a view to a potential move.
That being said, Sport Witness‘ report states that there could be translation issues with the quotes, with Llorente simply meaning other clubs have called since the Atletico man’s match-winning showing at Anfield last season.
The 25-year-old scored twice in extra-time to send Liverpool crashing out of Champions League at the last-16 stage back in March – incidentally, the last time Anfield was full of supporters.

It does seem more likely that Liverpool are not interested in Llorente, with the quotes misconstrued slightly.
There doesn’t seem to be a great need for the Reds to bring in someone of the Spaniard’s ilk, with the Reds already well-stocked in midfield and attacking areas.
Jurgen Klopp now surely has to consider buying a centre-back in January, however, after Joel Matip went off with a back problem against Fulham on Sunday.
Even if the Cameroonian is back for Wednesday’s clash with Tottenham, he continues to show that he can’t stay fit for long periods.
