Liverpool produced a sensational performance to dispatch of Crystal Palace 7-0 on Saturday lunchtime, in what acted as a huge signal of intent in the Premier League title race.
Prior to the game, the Reds’ trip to Selhurst Park was considered a potential banana skin, as Roy Hodgson came up against his former club.
Liverpool destroyed their opponents, however, putting on a finishing clinic throughout the afternoon.
Takumi Minamino opened the scoring early on in proceedings and Sadio Mane then ruthlessly made it 2-0.
Roberto Firmino added a third just before half-time, and although the game wasn’t officially over, it felt that way.
Jordan Henderson curled home and Firmino got another after the break, before substitute Mohamed Salah scored a quickfire brace to complete the rout in south London.
It was a remarkable display of finishing from Liverpool, who took their chances with aplomb.
