Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri is expected to stay at the club beyond the January transfer window, according to a report from Swiss outlet 4-4-2.ch.
The diminutive Switzerland international had been linked with an Anfield departure this month as the 29-year-old struggles to get regular match action under Jürgen Klopp.
However, the report claimed that Shaqiri will spend the entire season with Liverpool, leaving the door ajar for a possible summer switch. Despite making just seven appearances across all competitions this term, the former Bayern Munich man is said to be ‘comfortable’ at Anfield as things stand.
Signed from Stoke City following their relegation back in 2018, Shaqiri has come up trumps for the Reds on some big occasions despite being plagued by regular injuries during his time on Merseyside.

Given the injury-plagued season that Klopp’s squad has endured this term, it seems unlikely that the German would be willing to part ways with anyone who could play a part in the second half of the season.
Having recently returned from his latest calf problem, Shaqiri could be in line for a rare start on Friday as part of Liverpool’s third round FA Cup lineup against Aston Villa.
A popular creative influence among many Kopites, Shaqiri may count himself unfortunate to not have enjoyed more personal success on Merseyside and will surely be desperate to go out on a high if he is to move on to pastures new at the end of the season.
