On Wednesday, reports emerged from Spain linking Liverpool with what would be a surprise move for Sergio Ramos and many heads have unsurprisingly been turned among the Anfield fanbase.
Ramos could be looking for a move this month with his Real Madrid contract coming to an end in the summer, but it’s hard to imagine him in a Liverpool shirt.
Whulst Jurgen Klopp’s need for a central defender is glaringly obvious – especially one of the calibre of Ramos – there’s at least one major reason this deal looks unlikely.
The 34-year-old infamously injured Reds star Mohamed Salah early in the 2018 Champions League final in Kyiv, an incident which is not forgotten, or forgiven, by many Kopites.
Despite the Real Madrid legend seeming on the surface to be a top-quality short-term signing, these disparaging Reds don’t want to see him anywhere near their Kirkby base, with one fan labelling him a “liability” based on his 26 career red cards…
