Fabrizio Romano claims Liverpool ‘sent scouts’ to watch Rodrigo De Paul

Liverpool have reportedly ‘sent their scouts’ to monitor Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul, according to reputable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Romano told his Que Golazo podcast that the Premier League champions were interested in the 26-year-old, although a January move is out of the question. He said:

Liverpool are not moving to sign De Paul in January, so we can say this is absolutely something that is completely not real. Next summer we will see because here in Italy we have rumours about Mino Raiola approaching Rodrigo De Paul as possibly his new player.

He is trying to get De Paul as his new player, and when there is Mino Raiola in the air, something big can happen.

De Paul is also being targeted by Leeds United and Inter Milan as the Argentina ace continues to impress with his Serie A performances.

Described by his former Udinese head coach Julio Velazquez as a player who ‘lacks absolutely nothing’, the former Valencia man could be seen as Jurgen Klopp’s potential replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum, whose contract saga shows no sign of a resolution any time soon.

Whilst it’s perhaps unfair to label De Paul as a late bloomer, his last three seasons have been far and away the most productive of his career after a low-budget move from Valencia in 2016.

A move for the Argentine likely hinges on the decision made by Wijnadlum. Were the Dutchman to leave for Barcelona in the summer, De Paul would be considered a viable ready-made option who is currently in the middle of a purple patch.
