A number of Liverpool fans cannot believe Jurgen Klopp’s update on Joel Matip, with the Reds manager confirming that the centre-back has suffered ankle ligament damage.
The Premier League champions were superb on Thursday night, beating Tottenham 3-1 away from home, performing excellent throughout.
Roberto Firmino, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Sadio Mane all found the net for Liverpool, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg netting for Spurs.
Although it was a great night for the Reds, Matip went off injured at half-time, having shone in the first half.
It was the latest in an endless stream of injury setbacks for the Cameroonian, who could now be out for an extended period of time.
With Fabinho also unavailable, and Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez long-term absentees, it leaves Liverpool in a dire situation at centre-back.

I love Joel Matip and always thought the natural progression was for him to become 4th choice next season purely based on injury but at this point I’d consider a £10-15m 4th choice now and either use Matip as a bonus option or sell in the summer.
