Some Liverpool fans have been bemoaning a bemusing update from reputable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on his Here We Go podcast this week.
Many Kopites have been waiting with bated breath on any possible centre-back arrival this month as Jurgen Klopp’s side suffer the effects of long-term injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
On the possibility of the Reds bringing in a much-needed central defender this month, Romano said: “They are quiet on the situations of their centre backs. Now, they are in a better situation.”
That better situation has been accepted as the return to fitness of Joel Matip, notorious for his unreliable fitness record. The Cameroonian is undoubtedly among the best in his position in the league on his day, but his day is often closely followed by an injury layoff.
