Liverpool’s Brazilian players won’t have to play in March internationals

Liverpool have been boosted by the news that a number of players are not obligated to play in the March international break.

Another batch of international fixtures take place next month – something that is unlikely to go down too well with club managers.

According to Sky Sports, however, players from South America and Portugal won’t have to play, with an exemption added to the usual FIFA regulations that see clubs have to release players to represent their countries.

From a Liverpool perspective, that means Alisson, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino could all remain on Merseyside, despite Brazil being in action.

The decision may ultimately lie with the players, but it would be such a positive to have Alisson, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino remaining in England during the internationals.

It means three vital players would be more rested at a key period in the season, especially with Jurgen Klopp having to tackle so many injuries in recent months.

The risk of the trio picking up knocks on international duty is something Klopp could clearly do without, so hopefully, the final decision sees them train with Liverpool and recharge the batteries, rather than travelling across the world.
