A damning statistic regarding Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson suggests they are playing a big part in Liverpool’s current struggles.
The Reds were beaten 4-1 at home by Manchester City on Sunday, as their Premier League title hopes all but evaporated.
Liverpool are a shadow of the team that cruised to glory last season, with injuries and fatigue looking like they have caught up with them.
Alexander-Arnold and Robertson were well below their best, like many, with their end product nowhere to be seen at the moment.
According to WhoScored, they have now just chipped in with one goal and assist combined since the 7-0 win away to Crystal Palace.
That’s a total of 20 appearances between them, with Alexander-Arnold getting both contributions in the 3-1 win at Tottenham recently.

Alexander-Arnold and Robertson have become famed for their relentless stream of assists in the last few years, but that is now largely nowhere to be seen.
They got 48 league assists combined in 2018/19 and 2019/20, but just eight so far in this campaign.
That is playing a key role in Liverpool’s woes, with neither having the same level of energy and quality as before.
Their roles in the team are so demanding physically that a drop-off was arguably to be expected, but Jurgen Klopp needs both full-backs at their best as soon as possible.
