Remarkable statistic sums up Sadio Mane’s struggles this season

A remarkable statistic has summed up Sadio Mane’s goalscoring issues of late, perhaps suggesting he has avoided criticism.

The Senegalese has been a wonderful player for Liverpool, becoming one of the star men of the Jurgen Klopp era. He has scored 91 goals in 199 Reds appearances, as well as registering 32 assists, with his performances on the left-hand side world-class in recent years.

Despite that, the 28-year-old has been below-par this season, like many Liverpool players, as one eye-watering stat highlights.

Incredible, Mane has scored just three times in the Premier League since the 2-2 draw at Everton in October, in a run stretching almost four months.

Those goals came against Crystal Palace (A), West Brom (H) and Tottenham (A), meaning his tally in all competitions this season is just 10, including a double against essentially an Aston Villa youth team in the FA Cup.

These figures are scarcely believable, considering what a reliable source of goals Mane has been for so long.

He is looking a jaded figure at the moment, and like so many, he looks like a summer breather will do him a lot of good.

It has been Firmino who has come in for the most criticism out of Liverpool’s attack, but while this is largely justified, Mane has got away scot-free in comparison.

Hopefully, Liverpool’s No.10 finds his spark again sooner rather than later, with his blip swiftly forgotten about.
