Ole Gunnar Solskjaer aims sly dig at Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has seemingly ruled Liverpool out of the Premier League title race, following a sly dig at the Reds.

The champions are in an awful run of form currently, losing their last three league games and slipping to fourth the table.

Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Leicester City leaves them six points adrift of both the Foxes and United, with leaders Manchester City off in the distance.

United could only draw 1-1 away to struggling West Brom on Sunday, but speaking to BBC Sport after the game, Solskjaer didn’t mention Liverpool when discussing the teams chasing City:

Let’s just build momentum and win games. They [City] are in good form. Us and Leicester have to put up a fight.

From a Reds perspective, it certainly seems like more than a throwaway comment from Solskjaer, who has a knack of throwing in little digs.

While painted as a likeable figure, his dislike for Liverpool often comes through, having played for United for so many years.

Jurgen Klopp’s men should still fully believe they can catch United and Leicester, overturning the six-point deficit by the end of the season.

They just need to get over this shocking run and get key players and confidence back – if that happens, they can thrive again between now and May.
