A number of Liverpool supporters have been left baffled by Jamie Carragher’s decision to name Sami Hyypia as the Reds’ greatest Premier League signing.
The Finn was a wonderful player for Liverpool between 1999 and 2009, arriving from relatively unknown Ditch side Willem II and becoming a legend at Anfield.
A rock at the heart of the Reds’ defence, Hyypia eventually ended up captaining his team, before passing the job over to Steven Gerrard in 2003.
Not only that, but the big Finn also won a number of trophies during his time on Merseyside, including a cup treble in 2001, and most memorably, the 2005 Champions League.
Speaking on Sky Sports‘ Monday Night Football, Carragher named Hyypia as his pick for Liverpool’s greatest purchase in the Premier League era, also including Luis Suarez, Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk in the top-five.
Oh Sami Sami!

These Liverpool fans have reacted to Carragher’s decision on Twitter, with many surprised that Hyypia topped the pile.
