A number of Liverpool fans have been reacting to the refereeing appointments for this weekend’s Merseyside derby, with negativity the order of the day.
The Reds host Everton on Saturday evening, in what is a crucial Premier League clash. Not only are there local bragging rights to play for, but also a place in the top four.
Jurgen Klopp’s men made a welcome return to form on Tuesday night, winning 2-0 away to RB Leipzig in the Champions League. The hope is that it signals a run of good results in the league, too, having lost their last three in the competition.
It has been confirmed that Chris Kavanagh will take charge of Saturday’s match, while Andre Marriner is on VAR duties.
Kavanagh recently refereed Liverpool’s 3-0 win at home to Leicester City in November and the Reds have won all seven league games he has ever overseen.
These Liverpool fans weren’t in great spirits about his and Marriner’s appointments on Twitter, however.
Never really minded Marriner until that Southampton game recently, in which I thought he was a disgrace. Some of the most obvious decisions he refused to give us.

Makes no difference. They all use different interpretation of the rules. It'll be another lottery.
