Yerry Mina is out of this weekend’s Merseyside derby clash between Liverpool and Everton, having picked up an injury.
The Colombian was forced off with a calf issue in the Blues’ 3-1 defeat at home to Manchester City on Wednesday night.
Liverpool host their local rivals on Saturday evening in what could be a crucial game in the top-four battle. Everton are currently three points behind the Premier League champions with a game in hand.
Speaking after last night’s match, Carlo Ancelotti admitted it looks highly likely that Mina would feature at Anfield, saying: “Mina had a problem on his calf. I think he will not be available for the game on Saturday.”

Mina’s likely absence is a blow for Everton, considering his experience and physicality could have been an asset on Saturday night in a game of such magnitude.
He has started 19 of his side’s Premier League matches this season, averaging a dominant 3.1 aerial duels per game (WhoScored), and brings leadership from the back.
It means that either Mason Holgate or Ben Godfrey is expected to partner Michael Keane at centre-back on Saturday, arguably heightening Liverpool’s chances of victory.
