Liverpool are ‘closely following’ Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, according to a report from Spanish publication Diario Gol.
They claimed that Jurgen Klopp has already set his sights on summer transfers in order to ‘turn things around’ at Anfield next season, and the Brazilian could form part of the resurgence.
The 20-year-old hasn’t featured for the La Liga giants this year after suffering a hamstring injury in December, before which the four-cap international had made a quiet start to the 2020/21 season, scoring just once in 17 appearances.
Under contract at the Bernabeu until 2025 and with a Transfermarkt value of £40.5m, Diario Gol claimed that Zinedine Zidane doesn’t see the Brazilian as an ‘undisputed starter’ and could sanction his sale for £50m.
Capable of operating on either wing, Rodrygo has drawn comparisons to compatriot Neymar in the past and also earned acclaim from Zidane as being able to ‘do everything with the ball’.

Liverpool certainly need a shake-up of their attacking options and Rodrygo would provide a promising alternative.
However, £50m for a player who remains relatively unproven and would come under the bracket of a potential gem rather than a polished diamond is a huge gamble.
Whilst it would be foolish to question the Reds’ recruitment over recent seasons – and should Rodrygo be signed, it would be backed to the hilt – this seems like a risk the club wouldn’t take.
