Loris Karius has hinted that he could leave Liverpool for Union Berlin, admitting he is happy there currently.
The 27-year-old hasn’t played for the Reds since his disastrous performance in the 2018 Champions League final, when two errors against Real Madrid arguably cost Jurgen Klopp’s side the trophy.
Karius spent two years on loan at Besiktas and he is now plying his trade back in his homeland with Union Berlin.
Speaking to Bild [via Sport Witness], claimed his future could lie away from Liverpool, speaking of his happiness at his current club:
I still have a contract with Liverpool FC until 2022. But of course, I can imagine staying in Berlin if everything fits. I’m not just passing through here.
The mentality of the people and the spirit of the team are good for me. I’m basically a down-to-earth guy. Even though I drive an expensive car.

It is nice to see Karius enjoying his football again, following such a heartbreaking night in Kiev three years ago.
The goalkeeper will have needed plenty of mental strength to recover from that display, but he appears to be performing well again now, making three Bundesliga appearances this season.
In truth, it is hard to see Karius having a future at Liverpool, with Alisson, Caoimhin Kelleher and Adrian all better options between the sticks.
Not only that, but supporters could find it difficult to ever fully trust him again, given the magnitude of his nightmare against Madrid.
A permanent move to Union Berlin this summer could be ideal, allowing Liverpool to earn some money for his services – his contract expires in 2022, at which point he could leave for free – and allow Karius to be even more settled.
