“It sickens me”: Jamie Carragher hits out at Liverpool after European Super League announcement

It was announced last night that Liverpool were one of the founding 12 clubs of the proposed European Super League.

The reaction to the announcement has been far from positive, with fans upset over the owners decission.

Not only that, but even former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher is disgusted by the news.

The now Sky Sports pundit released an article in The Telegraph, stating that he was sickened by the clubs actions…

One of the biggest takeaways from the article was Carragher’s thoughts on the clubs owners FSG.

He states how John W Henry has acted keen to engage during his early days, but consistently fails to grasp to grasp the culture of the Kop.

It is hard to disagree when you look back at the history of FSG’s antics at the club.

The £77 match tickets in 2016, the furloughing of staff last season, all things that Carragher covers which are hard to ignore.

Football for so long now has been about maximising profit margins for the rich involved in the sport.

Billionaire owners and American franchising of English football has been apparent since the formation of the Premier League.

Sadly, the European Super League has taken this that one step too far with the wants and needs of the fans completely dismissed.
