Liverpool are set for an interesting summer transfer window in the coming months.
The Reds have failed to defend their Premier League title and will be gunning to get back amongst the title race.
However, one of the biggest issues that the club faces is the lack of squad depth.
This has led to a belief that the club will need to shift some deadwood in the squad to make way for better quality off the bench.
During the latest episode of The Athletic’s Red Agenda podcast, James Pearce spoke about the possible summer window.
One of the biggest takeaways was about Roberto Firmino, who has come under fire this season.
Luckily for the Brazilian, Pearce is convinced that Firmino will remain at the club as he can’t see Klopp letting him go.
Firmino has been one of the regular faces in the Liverpool starting XI since Klopp joined the club.
The forward has always been a reliable player and is a world away from your conventional No.9.
He may not be a prolific goalscorer but that is not his namesake in the squad.
Firmino is a provider and his movement and ability on the ball allows for the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané to rake in the goals.
We feel he could work fantastically well as a No.10 if the club were to sign a new striker in the summer.
He has everything in his locker to suit that position and it is something that may cross the mind of Klopp in the near future.
Firmino himself even knows about the criticism he gets, with him posting a hilarious promotional photo on his Instagram.
During a promotion with Adidas, Firmino posted a picture highlighting his ability to ‘reinvent a role’.
Of course he is eluding to his role as a No.9 and the unique job he does on the pitch week in week out.
