Atletico Madrid reportedly step up interest for Liverpool’s €55m striker this summer

Since joining the club, Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino has become a fan favourite.

The Brazilian joined the Reds in the summer of 2015 and has gone on to win almost everything possible.

Champions League and Premier League trophies in the space of two seasons have written his name into the history books.

However, it looks as though his time on Merseyside could be coming to an abrupt end.

According to El Gol Digital, as cited by The Anfield Buzz on Twitter, Atletico Madrid are stepping up their interest in the forward…

Despite James Pearce’s doubt over him leaving the club over the last few days, the Spanish club seem eager to take him to Madrid.

The report also states that Liverpool will sought €55million for the 29-year-old in the summer if Atletico are serious.

It would be a shame to see the forward leave the club given how enjoyable he has been to watch over the last 5 and a half seasons.

With 84 goals and 67 assists in just 287 appearances, Firmino has been a revelation under Jurgen Klopp.

It is well known that his goalscoring numbers may not match that of other strikers in the Premier League.

Firmino trail-blazed a new role as a No.9 with his pressing and defensive contributions.

His ability to provide for Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané was selfless and showed just how big a team player he is.

If he was to leave the club in the summer it would be a huge loss for the club not just on the pitch, but in the dressing room too.
