Jurgen Klopp ‘maintains faith’ in Liverpool’s £52.2m midfield duo despite injury setbacks

Since both joining the club, midfield duo Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have been blighted by injuries.

Keita joined the Reds from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2018 and has picked up 14 separate injuries.

His counterpart, Oxlade-Chamberlain, has had seven separate injuries with one keeping him sidelined for almost a year.

The pair have spent more time on the sidelines than on the pitch for the club which has stunted their form.

Despite showing glimpses of their ability at times, it has been hard for the pair to get a good run of games.

However, despite the injury setbacks, manager Jurgen Klopp remains hopefull.

According to The Telegraph’s Chris Bascombe, the German is maintains his faith in the pair…

As cited by AnfieldWatch on Twitter, it appears as though Klopp isn’t ready to give up on the duo yet.

There have been plenty of moments of brilliance from the two for the club, which keeps us hopeful.

Oxlade-Chamberlain hit the ground running during his debut season and was unlucky to sustain an ACL injury.

Keita has also had moments of brilliance, but has struggled to get a run of games since joining the Reds.

The club paid a combined £88.2million for the pair and they no doubt don’t want to lose out on any money.

Despite their lack of form and run of games, the club seem happy to stick it out in the hopes things will come good.

It would be a lot of money to lose out on as both players would fetch nowhere near the fees paid.

With a current combined market value of £52.2million, Jurgen Klopp is happy to try and make things work.
