The Euro 2020 tournament is just over a week away and the excitement and anticipation is running high.
Many of the countries participating have already named their 26-man squads for the month long tournament.
England, however, are yet to decide, with manager Gareth Southgate set to announce the squad this evening.
Plenty of players are in contention, but one Liverpool star is set to be left out of the final squad.
According to ESPN’s sources, Liverpool’s £90million star right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold will be left out…
As tweeted by ESPN, Southgate won’t be taking Trent as part of his squad for the tournament this month.
It would be a massive shame to see a player of this ability and talent miss out on a spot in the squad.
Trent has been incredibly important for the club over the last few seasons and as ESPN state, his achievements speak for themselves.
Having won the Premier League and Champions League, as well as possessing incredible assists numbers – he is a no-brainer.
However, it doesn’t appear as though Southgate is concerned about possession a winning mentality in his squad.
Despite the obvious frustration over Trent missing out, it is welcome news to Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool fans.
This will give the 22-year-old a full summer to rest and prepare for next season.
Trent being fully fit and ready for the next campaign is vital for the club’s attempts at the Premier League title.
