Over the last few hours, it has been confirmed by Liverpool City Council that the Reds can expand Anfield.
The citys planning committee gave the green light for the clubs proposed redevelopment of the Anfield Road end.
The expansion will add another 7,000 to the stadium, increasing the total capacity to 61,000.
Journalist James Pearce took to Twitter, confirming the news of the done deal between the club and city council…
It is a great proposal fo the club and their continued growth as one of the top teams in Europe.
Although these aspects often come down to the quality of the squad and the silverware you win, every top team has an impressive stadium.
Anfield is one of the most respected and talked about stadiums in Europe already, so to increase its size is great news.
According to Anfield Watch, the rebuild and expansion is likely to cost the club in the region of £60million…
Despite the club lacking in finances for the transfer window, it is clear that the Anfield expansion is very important.
It is unlikely that the club would ever take the route of Everton or Arsenal and rebuild a new stadium.
Anfield is incredibly important to the club and its success, so maintaining it and ensuring it’s further development is integral.
Hopefully, the seats will provide further tickets for loyal supporters rather than corporate or hospitality seating.
