Premier League winger Andros Townsend has described Liverpool linked John McGinn as the ‘perfect’ Jurgen Klopp player.
The Reds were credited with an interest in the Aston Villa midfielder this week after it emerged Klopp was an admirer of the Scotsman’s qualities.
However, the Midlands club have placed an eye-watering £50million price tag on the 26-year-old, making any move unlikely.
Working for talkSPORT as a pundit, current Crystal Palace ace Townsend was full of praise for McGinn and believes the Villa man would slot straight in at Anfield.

The initial report from The Athletic claimed player sales at the Reds and a renewed desire to replace Gini Wijnaldum in the squad could see an interest in McGinn materialise.
Capped on 36 occasions by Scotland – adding 10 goals – the box to box midfielder enjoyed a superb 2020/21 Premier League campaign.
In 37 appearances the star netted three goals and added six assists – earning praise from Danny Mills as an ‘invaluable’ member of Dean Smith’s side.

Valued at £27million and under contract at Villa Park until 2025 (Transfermarkt), prizing the star away from a club clearly unwilling to sell looks to be a daunting prospect.
Whilst clearly an important member of the squad, £50million is too rich for Liverpool’s blood on this deal and negotiations would have to be in the Reds’ favour.
In terms of quality, McGinn would no doubt be an impressive addition to Klopp’s ranks, especially given the Scotsman’s workrate.
At present, there are other, more affordable options, that could prove to be wiser decisions.
