Virals: Liverpool target Kylian Mbappe ‘will not extend’ PSG deal

Liverpool have often been linked with a somewhat fanciful move for Paris Saint-Germain and France superstar Kylian Mbappe.

Albeit potentially little more than a dream scenario for many, most realistic Kopites have often brushed off the move as unlikely at best.

Well, those hopes may have been handed a boost as the 22-year-old reportedly turns down the chance to extend a stay in the French capital.

According to a report from the reputable L’Équipe, as cited by Get French Football News on Twitter, the World Cup winner could become a free agent net summer.

Mbappe has now entered the final 12 months of a contract with the Ligue 1 club and could potentially talk to other clubs as soon as January 2022.

The report claims despite the risk of losing the 48-cap ace for nothing next year, PSG remain unwilling to sell this summer.

Previously hailed as a ‘phenomenon’ by Cesc Fabregas, the speedster emerged as the villain after missing the penalty that sent France crashing out of Euro 2020 against Switzerland.

Despite enduring a disappointing campaign last season for club and country, Mbappe remains the hottest property in world football and finished with 42 goals and 11 assists in just 46 outings.

Valued at an eye-watering £144million (Transfermarkt), the possibility of signing the Frenchman for free is a tantalising prospect.

Albeit there’s likely to be fierce competition from Real Madrid and the rest of the European elite, Liverpool will surely be in the conversation at least.

Whilst the wages will be astronomical, the opportunity to sign a world star doesn’t come around often – if ever.

Still just 22, the Frenchman has already achieved so much in the game and has at least another decade at the elite level, injury permitting.

Given the crazy finances and the frankly absurd prospect of allowing Mbappe to leave for free, the Reds should be testing the resolve in this transfer window.
