On this day (6th July) in 2015, Liverpool completed the signing of Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino.
The Reds signed the then 23-year-old from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim for a fee of £29million.
After six years at the club, Firmino has helped the Reds to multiple silverware under Jurgen Klopp.
Premier League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup victory have all ensued for the Brazilian.
The club’s official Twitter account commemorated the now 29-year-olds six-year anniversary.
As you can see below, the Liverpool admin quoted the famous opening line from Firmino’s song straight from the Kop…
It has been a fantastic six-year for the club and for Firmino, with him enjoying the best football of his career.
From 292 appearances for Liverpool, the forward has managed 87 goals with 69 assists in all competitions.
Alongside Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah, the trio have grown into one of the most feared attackers in football.
The three have lead the line for the Reds for more than three seasons now, helping them to the incredible haul of trophies mentioned previously.
Firmino has cemented himself in Liverpool’s history, with him often showing up for the big games.
The Brazilian scored the winning goal for the club against Flamengo for the Club World Cup in 2019.
Hopefully, next season will again see a fine year for Firmino and the rest of the Liverpool squad.
The Brazilian will no doubt, along with the rest of the team, be aiming for silverware once again next season.
