Liverpool are believed to have enquired over the possibility of signing SS Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer.
Reds’ boss Jurgen Klopp is on the lookout for a midfield addition after Gini Wijnaldum left the club to join Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent.
Previously linked with Serbian international Milinkovic-Savic, the German boss has reportedly reignited an admiration of the 26-year-old.
This comes after a report from Italian outlet Calciomercato, as cited by Football Transfers on Twitter, claimed the Anfield club had made ‘calls’ regarding the ace

Capped 21 times by Serbia, the Spanish-born attacking midfielder had forged a relatively successful career in Italy since arriving from Genk in 2015 for £16.2million (Transfermarkt).
During 2020/21, Milinkovic-Savic scored eight and assisted 10 other goals in 32 Serie A outings.

Valued at £63million and under contract Stadio Olimpico until 2024 (Transfermarkt), Lazio have previously demanded in excess of £100million for their asset.
Not only had the Serb attracted the attention of Klopp, but Liverpool legend and Rangers manager Steven Gerrard also admitted he was a ‘huge fan’ of the star when picking a fantasy five a side team from Europa League participants.
Credited with a holding range of attributes, albeit mostly attack-minded, signing Milinkovic-Savic wouldn’t be a like for like replacement for Wijnaldum.
Ultimately it’s unlikely the Reds would shell out a fortune for any player this summer, meaning a huge price drop would be needed to make this deal possible.
