Liverpool look to be in good stead ahead of the upcoming return of the Premier League.
The Reds have enjoyed a productive pre-season over the last month, with training camps in Austria and France.
Tonight marks their final pre-season game with a friendly against Osasuna at Anfield.
However, yesterday saw the Reds draw 1-1 with fellow La Liga club Athletic Bilbao, with defender Andy Robertson picking up an injury.
The Scotsman went down during the first half with a nasty-looking ankle injury, leading to him being replaced.
It is unknown as to whether the Scotsman will miss the first game of the season yet, but his No.2 seems more than ready.
During an interview with the club’s official website after the 1-0 win vs Bologna, Tsimikas was asked about his current form.
The Greek international didn’t shy away, stating that he is ready for any opportunity that may face him this season…
“Always these kind of games give me more power to continue running and to improve. And I’m very happy to help my team win 1-0 even in a friendly game… I always give my best to be close to the team. And whenever my coach gives me the opportunity to play, I’m always ready for that. Any opportunity, I’m ready.”
Kostas Tsimikas speaking on Liverpool’s official website
Tsimikas signed for the club last summer from Olympiakos for just under £12million.
Since then, he has only featured for the Reds seven times last season and is ready to make an impact.
It is likely we shall see him start against Norwich on Saturday if Robertson’s injury is as feared.
It will be great to see the 25-year-old get the well-earned game time he deserves as his talent has shone through this summer.
The Reds will get a closer look at him once again tonight with him likely to start against Osasuna at Anfield.
