Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri could be on the verge of sealing a departure from Merseyside this summer.
The 29-year-old has seemingly been angling for a move since the European Championships as the Swiss ace goes in search of regular game time.
Shaqiri was in superb form during Euro 2020 despite failing to make a constant impact on Jurgen Klopp’s side last term.
According to Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio on Twitter, the diminutive forward is ‘very close’ to a move to French Ligue 1 club Lyon.
Twitter: #Shaqiri is very close to @OL on a permanent deal: the offer is €6M to @LFC, request is €8M @SkySportsNews @SkySports @XS_11official (@DiMarzio)
A further report from reputable French newspaper L’Equipe claimed the 96-cap international stalwart has already agreed to personal terms in France.
Last season Shaqiri made 22 appearances across all competitions for the Reds, scoring once and adding four assists along the way.

It seemed as though something was in the pipeline when Shaqiri, along with Nat Phillips, was left out of both games against Spanish opposition earlier in the week.
Selling the Swiss ace for just £6.7million may seem rather on the cheap side, especially considering the £13milllion expenditure and Liverpool’s recent penchant for extract every penny from a deal.
However, as the transfer window heads towards a close, if any new arrivals are going to be forthcoming, additional funds, squad space and wages will be required
Shaqiri was taking up a crucial non-homegrown space in the Anfield ranks and could now be replaced by a player ready to make a greater impression.
Many Kopites will no doubt wish the star well on his next adventure, thank him for the special moments at Anfield and pray for an outsourced replacement.
